Prior to its commercial release in the marketplace, The Sensation of Sight enjoyed a highly successful eighteen-month run on the international film festival circuit, including its world festival premiere at the San Sebastian International Film Festival in Spain, one of the top ten festivals in the world. It was the only American film out of eighteen films selected in the festival’s New Directors category. On opening night, The Sensation of Sight played to a capacity audience of over 700 people.
In total, the film was honored as an official selection at seventeen notable festivals on five continents and garnered a number of awards, including the Best Cinematography Award at the Durban South Africa International Film Festival and Best Feature Film at the New Hampshire Film Festival.

The U.S. Premiere for The Sensation of Sight was held at the Denver Film Festival, with many of the actors, crew, and investors in attendance.
In the summer of 2008, Monterey Media released The Sensation of Sight in theatres nationally, and in the fall the DVD was released in the U.S. and Canada. Long Tale International is the foreign sales agent.
